The Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC (FFSBC) is an independent, non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors. We are seeking a Facilities Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at the Vancouver Island Trout Hatchery in Duncan, BC on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Hatchery Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for the management of the physical plant operations, maintenance and regulatory requirements of the hatchery facility and its offsite locations. The position is responsible to develop and implement the strategic and operational plans for the physical assets of the hatchery. The position provides the Hatchery Manager with impacts of new and revised programs on the facilities and contributes to the development of policy with respect to facilities and equipment. Furthermore, it identifies and administers new facilities projects to be delivered.

• The base salary range for this position is $69,099.48 to $78,828.54 annually
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with:
• Secondary school graduation;
• Trades Qualification in related field such as power engineer, electrician, or a B level gas ticket;
• Completion of recognized wastewater treatment and water systems operations course preferred;
• Minimum of five years experience in fish hatchery operations and maintenance or similar industrial experience;
• Minimum of 3 years experience in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health regulations;
• Minimum of 3 years experience in compliance with Environmental Stewardship regulations;
• Experience in developing and managing contracts;
• Experience managing projects;
• Experience in managing staff;
• Equivalent combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.
Some travel and work outside of normal hours of operation are required. Preference may be given to candidates who reside close to the hatchery (e.g. within 30 km). Lesser qualified applicants may be under-implemented. An eligibility list may be established for up to one year.
