Vernon Restholm is a non-profit, assisted living home, that has provided housing for 48 low-income residents since 1964.
Our manager of 16 years is retiring at the end of this year, and we are searching for that special person to replace him.
We are looking for a kind and compassionate person that cares about the lives of seniors, while at the same time providing a safe and enjoyable working environment for your staff.
If you are searching for a position where you sit in an office all day long, this job is not for you!
As manager you are front and centre with residents and their families. You play an active role in the day-to-day operations and the well-being of our residents.
You will report to the Board of Directors on a regular basis.
Work schedule is Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, but flexibility is a requirement.
Situations will arise that as the manager, you may have to fill in for a staff member. Phone calls during the middle of the night are not uncommon.
Summary of the skills we are looking for:
• Previous management experience.
• Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
• Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
• Ensures a safe, secure, and legal work environment.
• Coaches, counsels, and disciplines employees.
• Communicate effectively and maintain harmonious relationships with residents, family, volunteers, and staff.
• Develops, coordinates, and enforces systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
• Bondable and willing to undergo a Criminal Background Check.
• Accomplishes financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
• Self motivated and be able to work individually without direct supervision.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and be flexible, dependable, and reliable.
• Efficient with Windows Computer environment using Microsoft Word and Excel Software.
• Organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
• Remain calm and deal effectively with varied and sometimes stressful situations.
